BEAUTIFUL ASSASSIN by MICHAEL WHITE

Posted by Bookworm on Nov 30, 2009 in Bookworm's

Elizabeth Moynihan, a young journalist, has hit the jackpot. It’s 1992 and a chance remark has sent her to a small farm in the middle of nowhere in Colorado. There resides Russia’s most notorious sniper-turned-spy, the one-time beautiful assassin, Tat’yana Levchenko, and she’s ready to tell her story. During the Second World War, Tat’yana was Russia’s secret weapon. After the Germans killed her daughter, aged four, she enlisted as a sniper for the Russian army. Having finally achieved her goal of killing three hundred Germans, she was badly injured in a siege and shipped back to Moscow. She was presented to Stalin, paraded among the ranks of high society and before the world’s press. Her duty to her country not yet over, she was sent to America, to befriend Eleanor Roosevelt, touring the nation with her, securing support for the war. And all the while, she was to send vital information about American armament and troop plans back to her homeland. Before long, Tat’yana was ready to defect, putting her own life – and that of the man she loves – in more grave danger than ever before.

This book is a great read. Be warned, once you start it’s hard to put down.

Release date – March 30th 2010

Andie Ryan signing huge success!

Posted by Bookworm on Oct 29, 2009 in Author visits, Bookworm's

A big thank you to all the people who came by for the Andie Ryan signing. And of course, thanks to Andie herself. I think a great time was had by all. I already have Andie booked for the release of her next book. I have it in writing so she can’t back out (Inside joke between Andie and I). Anyone who missed it can still purchase books. I believe we still have some signed copies available.

Fall is in the air!

Posted by Bookworm on Oct 26, 2009 in Uncategorized Ramblings

You know you’re in Texas when you have a beautiful Saturday and almost a blizzard on Monday. OK maybe it’s not quite a blizzard but it’s much cooler then Saturday. On Saturday I couldn’t help but look up and down Main Street. The shop owners were cleaning up, shoppers were out early and it just warmed the heart. I think every customer coming into the store was smiling. There’s just something about a day like Saturday that makes people happy, not just on the outside but deep in the soul. I can honestly say there’s no other place I would have wanted to be that day, at that time. Thanks Boerne for making a beautiful day even prettier.

Latest read – Num8ers by Rachel Ward

Posted by Bookworm on Oct 24, 2009 in Bookworm's

Not bad, not good either. Story of an English 15 yr. old girl who can see the date of other people’s deaths, much like a stamp on the forehead that no one else can see. The story is good but the book drags on like a bad cold. I found myself wanting it to end……please! Some of the problem, for me anyway, is the English street slang. I had to figure out what dossers and slags were. By the way, can anyone tell me? Normally this book would be right up my alley, and at half its size it might have been.  Comes to America Feb. 2010. I would give it a 2 1/2 on a scale of 5.

I knew it was good, but WOW

Posted by Bookworm on Oct 24, 2009 in Author visits, Bookworm's

I knew it would happen. Shakedown has been placed as an award-winning finalist in the 2009 National Best Books Awards sponsored by USA Book News (Thriller / Adventure category).  I hope Andie remembers the little people when she’s rubbing elbows with King, Grisham and Patterson. Excellent book, enough said.

I am so excited about this author visit/ book signing. I have read Andie’s book and all I can say is WOW. She covers all the corporate greed and the things companies will do to hide their mistakes….even murder. Coming from the corporate world myself, this book hit home. If you have ever been involved in big business, read this book!

Andie will be at Read All About It on Thursday, October 29th @ 5 pm. Don’t miss this one!!
